A funeral mass took place Oct. 2 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington, for Frances McCarthy, 76, of Denville. She died Sept. 28 at the Franciscan Oaks Health Center in Denville. Born in Jersey City, she lived in North Bergen before moving to Denville in 2011. She was one of the first female corrections officers for the Hudson County Department of Corrections, where she worked for 23 years before retiring as a captain in 1997. She was the widow of the late Gerard F. McCarthy, the mother of Geraldine F. McCarthy and her husband Michael McCarthy of Parsippany; the sister of Joan Kopczynski, Elizabeth Gottschalk and the late Joseph Moloughney Jr., Donald Moloughney and Jerome Moloughney. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and family members. Services arranged by the Parow Funeral Home, North Arlington.
