A funeral mass was offered Sept. 16 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City for Laura Fraschilla, 54, of Jersey City. She died Sept. 12 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She had been battling breast cancer. Born in Brooklyn to Ceaser Fraschilla and the late Margaret Fraschilla, she was raised in Staten Island. Laura graduated from Wagner High School and attended Stony Brook University where she studied biology and pre-med. She settled in Jersey City in 1988. Laura was a director of Global Sourcing and Procurement Services at the AIG Company. Prior to that, she was a vice president at Citi Group, a director at The American Express Company and a manager for Chase Bank.
As a passionate supporter of the Jersey City Community, she served as president of the Van Vorst Park Association from 2004 to 2008 and as president of the Barrow Mansion Development Corporation from 2010 to 2013. Laura is survived by her husband of 27 years, Rory Sortino; her father Ceaser Fraschilla; brothers John and James, and a sister Darcy Eveleigh.
