BAYONNE – “Let’s finally get this done” may have been the thinking of Bayonne teachers as they voted about 500 to 33 on their proposed new contract, possibly settling their nearly five-year contact impasse, according to an online report.
Quoting Bayonne Teachers Association President Alan D’Angelo, nj.com reported yesterday that the vote took place Monday, bringing the two sides ever closer to a settlement. The Board of Education still needs to approve the agreement with a vote Thursday evening at its regular meeting.
D’Angelo said 260 teachers did not vote on the pact.
The lack of a teachers’ contract was a major issue during the municipal elections in the spring.
