BAYONNE – A midday porch fire on the 100 block of Broadway was contained moments after firefighters’ arrival on Thursday, Aug. 28, a fire official said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 2:24 p.m. to the three-story frame house at 148 Broadway. Upon arrival, they encountered the fire on the rear porch on the first floor, according to Fire Chief Gregory Rogers.
“It was quickly controlled,” he said.
The fire and smoke did not extend into the house’s interior, according to Rogers. There was only fire damage to an area of two square feet of the porch.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians, although a second floor tenant of the dwelling was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Service workers, Rogers said.
The fire is still under investigation.
