Funeral services were held July 18 for Salvatore “Sonny” Grieco, 86, of North Bergen. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 14. He was born in Hoboken and lived most of his life in North Bergen. Salvatore was a truck driver for Roadway Express Trucking Co. in South Kearny for many years before retiring. He was a veteran who served in the Navy in 1946 and 1947. Salvatore was an active member of the Senior Citizen clubs of North Bergen, Jersey City, West New York and Cliffside Park.
He was the husband of Carol Grieco, whom he referred to as his beautiful bride with the big blue eyes. He was the father of Patricia Patterson, Gail Apicella, Barbara Grieco, Stephen Grieco and wife Kim, Carol Geraghty and husband John and the late Salvatore Grieco Jr. He was also the grandfather of 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
