A spokesperson for the Jersey City police said another shooting near Ege Avenue over night Monday into Tuesday is being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office, in what may be an escalation of violence after the death of a police officer and his assailant on Sunday.
Officials said Jersey City police in the South District has been put on alert to expect possible violence from The Bloods, the most prominent street gang in that area of the city.
Meanwhile, the community has put up a makeshift monument to Lawrence Campbell, who is was killed after he allegedly gunned down rookie police officer Melvin Santiago early Sunday morning. Campbell‘s widow also reportedly said she regretted saying her husband should have killed more police and offered condolences to Santiago family.
