SECAUCUS – The state of New Jersey awarded tax breaks to two companies last week as incentive to bring jobs to Secaucus.
Frontage Laboratories, a Pennsylvania pharmaceutical-services company, was awarded a tax break of nearly $2.4 million to locate a laboratory in Secaucus. Jacmel Jewelry, a New York jewelry manufacturer, was awarded a $3 million tax break to bring their services to the area.
Both companies are considering other locations for their facilities – Frontage in Philadelphia and Jacmel in Norwalk. The tax breaks are intended to make New Jersey a more desirable location for the companies.
If they settle on Secaucus, Frontage would bring 50 jobs to the town and Jacmel would bring an additional 75.
The tax breaks were awarded at a meeting of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority as part of the state’s Grow New Jersey Assistance Program. Other tax breaks awarded at the meeting included $260 million for a company in the Camden area, as well as other projects in Bayonne, Newark, and Trenton.
