BAYONNE – Several hundred people packed the Bayonne High School auditorium to watch Mayor James Davis and his council slate get sworn into office on Tuesday, June 1.
Davis pledged to unify the city and get to work right away.
The new chief executive promised to bring “good, honest, and open government to the city of Bayonne.”
Davis was sworn in by U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, and a number of dignitaries were in attendance, including U.S. Representative Albio Sires.
The Davis administration made history yesterday, as at-large Councilwoman Sharon Nadrowski became the Bayonne’s first female city council president. Also, Juan Perez became the city’s first Latino at-large councilman.
First Ward Councilman Thomas Cotter, Second Ward Councilman Salvatore Gullace, and Third Ward Councilman Gary La Pelusa, a councilman from 2006 to 2010, round out the new government.
Also announced were four city hall appointments. They were Joseph DeMarco, business administrator; Robert Kubert, public safety director; Robert Wondolowski, municipal services director; and Susan Ferraro, acting corporation counsel. –Joseph Passantino
