Issues still remain

Dear Editor:
As a young African-American living in the Greenville community, my heart saddens when I see empty store fronts, drug infested corners, abandoned buildings, dirty streets, and lack of employment opportunities for my neighborhood. For years now, many administrations have come in and tried to fix the problem but issues still remain.
On July 2013, a new administration entered city hall with promises to revitalize the Greenville community. Some may say they are making progress, while others may say nothing is being done to fix the issues. As a LGBT/minority advocate, I see the everyday struggles facing single parent households. Many of these parents are looked down upon by many which is unfair. We are one big community and it is time we act as family. Let’s start taking care of one another instead of talking about one another. In Greenville, there are numerous churches, agencies, and political offices which should be at the forefront of tackling issues effecting our neighborhood. We must put pressure on them because this is our community and enough destruction has been done. The Re-Birth of Greenville shall one day rise again and I am confident I will be apart of it.
