Volunteers needed for PERC activities

UNION CITY – The Palisades Emergency Residence Corporation (PERC) runs a homeless shelter in Union City and does other good works. PERC is holding several events this week and they are looking for a few good volunteers. Assistance is needed for several events:
• On Tuesday, 6/17 volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help bag groceries for the food pantry.
• On Wednesday, 6/18 volunteers are needed to help unload the community food bank truck from 8 to 11 a.m.
• And on Saturday PERC is holding a flea market and needs assistance with set-up from 8 a.m. to noon and for clean-up from noon to 5 p.m.

The PERC thrift shop and food kitchen are located at 113 37th St. in Union City. PERC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers emergency shelter to individuals and families, a soup kitchen and food pantry, permanent housing for chronically homeless individuals and other community services throughout Hudson County. –Art Schwartz
