Jewish American Heritage Month honoree is Lynn Danzker

HOBOKEN – Lynn Danzker has been honored as part of Jewish American Heritage Month. The Hoboken resident was selected because of her commitment to her community and environment at home and abroad.
Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia (D-33) presented her with the award.
“I thank Assemblyman Garcia for acknowledging the work that I do,” said Danzker. “You don’t always have to write a big check. It’s the little things you do here and there that can make a difference. If you touch one person, maybe they’ll touch someone else.”
“Danzker is making a difference here in Hoboken and beyond,” said Garcia. “She has touched many lives and our world is a better place because of her.”
Danzker’s mission to give back to others began when she started the process of adopting her son Cole, who is from Russia.
“It opened my eyes to a world beyond myself,” said Danzker. “From that moment on I knew I had to give back to others.”
During the adoption process, she met Dr. Jane Aronson, the founder of WorldWide Orphans. Danzker has volunteered with that organization as well as Wide Horizons for Children, the international adoption agency which helped her and Cole unite as a family.
Danzker also serves on numerous committees and helps to raise money for her son’s school, Hola Hoboken Dual Language Charter School. She also volunteers and has helped to establish several fundraising programs at UCH, United Synagogue of Hoboken, where she has been a member since 2000.
Her generosity extends beyond Hoboken where she has lived since 1996. She traveled to the Amazon region of Brazil to plant more than 400 trees to help reforest the rainforest. Closer to home, Danzker has also planted trees in the tri-state area. And she has helped to clean up beaches at the Jersey Shore.
In addition to her volunteer work, Danzker has also had a successful professional career in consumer product marketing and product development. In 1999, she started her own business, the Hunter Group.
Jewish American Heritage Month is recognized nationally in May. “The rich contributions of Jewish Americans should celebrated and treasured not just in May but throughout the year, “said Assemblyman Garcia.
“I am a proud of my religion and heritage,” said Danzker. “Just being recognized is wonderful. And acknowledging my Jewish heritage made it sweeter.”
