Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced that the Recreation Division will hold registration for its Sandlot Baseball and Softball Camp. The camp will begin on Monday, June 30 and run through Friday, August 8. Boy & girls ages 5 to 13 are invited to attend. The camp runs Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 16th Street Park.
Registration has begun and will continue through the month of June. Participants can register at the Division of Recreation, located in City Hall Room #13, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The registration fee for the Sandlot Camp is a $75 per camper. For families, a discount will be given for a 2nd child ($50.00) and the 3rd child is FREE.
The camp, which draws 50 – 100 players on a daily basis, offers instructors who give 45 minutes of instruction on a daily basis covering all aspects of the game of baseball and softball. After instructions the players are broken up into age groups to enjoy a game of sandlot baseball and softball. No coaches, no parents, just kids playing baseball and softball.
