Psychiatric patient charged with attempted homicide

SECAUCUS – A 25-year-old female patient at Hudson County Meadowview Psychiatric Hospital in Secaucus has been charged with attempting to kill another patient by smothering her with a pillow, according to reports.
The alleged assailant was arrested and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses in relation to the incident on May 30. She was taken to a state psychiatric hospital in Trenton, where she will be evaluated. Her bail was set at $100,000 cash or bond.
Attempted homicide, a first degree crime, carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years upon conviction.
