Taste of Weehawken 2014

Dear Editor:
On behalf of the Weehawken Free Public Library and Board of Trustees, thank you to the over 400 guests and more than 40 restaurants and businesses who joined us at the 14th Annual Taste of Weehawken last month.
Our community came together once again for not only an extraordinary evening of exceptional food and drink shared with family, friends and neighbors, but also for one of support and fundraising for our beloved Weehawken Library. As a result, we were able to raise over $12,000 to help sustain many Library programs: art exhibits, author appearances and other special events as well as many special children’s activities. Funds this year will also help underwrite the purchase of a state-of-the art drop box which will make before- and after-hour return of not only books more convenient for patrons, but now also for the safe return of audio books, CD’s and DVD’s.
On behalf of the entire Weehawken Library Board of Trustees, staff and administration, thank you again for your continued support.
We also, of course, are greatly indebted to the superb restaurants and proprietors participating in the Taste including Amanda’s Restaurant, Ben & Jerry’s Riverwalk-Edgewater Scoop Shop, Canamelao Restaurant, Los Charritos, Chart House Restaurant, Cholita Dessert Bar, The Clinton Social, Cremas Artisan Flavors, Cucharamama & Ultramarinos, El Unico Restaurant & Cafeteria, Flaming Burrito, G.P.’s, Gladis Homemade Cakes, Haven Riverfront Restaurant and Bar, Houlihan’s-Weehawken, The Hudson Cakery, Ispresso at Park, Karma Kafe, Kathryn’s Confections, Lorraine’s Table, The Madison Bar and Grill, Masina Trattoria Italiana, Molos Restaurant & Catering, Palermo’s Bakery, Pizza Villa, Porto Leggero, Robongi & Hudson Blue, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Son Cubano, Touch of Spice, Waterside Restaurant and Catering, and of course our Weehawken High School Culinary Arts Program student chefs!
Please be sure to visit these wonderful businesses throughout the year and thank them for their support of the Taste.
We are also grateful to our generous raffle sponsors, including NY Waterway, Entertainment Cruises NY, Papermill Playhouse, Universal Flower, and many of our participating restaurants.
Finally, we extend a very special thanks to Giannone Wine & Liquor Co. for hosting the amazing tables of wine, craft beer and cordial tastings for our guests, as well as for the printing of our Taste of Weehawken program. We also thank Hartz Mountain for donating the spectacular setting for the Taste at the Food Court at Lincoln Harbor, the Weehawken Reporter for their continued advertising support, and of course the countless other individuals and businesses who donated services, supplies and many, many hours to help made the evening such a success.
As we have said, it is the support of this special community that has helped make our Weehawken Free Public Library and Media Center among the best in the state. We look forward to welcoming you all back next year for our 15th Annual Taste of Weehawken.

Sincerely,
Richard F. Turner
