Woods “O,” Woods “D” key Penguins win

With weapons at every position, the Penguins have been almost unstoppable as they sit a top the Sr. Division standings at 5-1 as they compete in the JCC of Bayonne’s Floor Hockey program. Almost unstoppable, as the (1-6) Islanders dominated the Penguins in week three as they handed the Pens their only defeat by a 7-4 margin. Chip on shoulder, the Penguins showed no mercy as Marek Mickiewicz and Mackenzie Woods made it two zip with scoring blasts. The Islanders kept it close for a while as Malachi Smith assisted Drew Radil on a net quaking shot to make it 2-1, Penguins. With echoes of week three still in their heads, the Penguins went on a five-goal rampage as Mackenzie Woods, Josh Greenbaum, Julian Giron, Marek Mickiewicz, and CeeJay Larino each pumped in goals. Trailing 7-1, the Islanders caught a bit of a break as their week three hero Logan Mazziota stepped up for a power play goal to make it a 7-2 bout. Firmly in control, the well-oiled Penguins’ offense struck again as Mackenzie Woods added two more goals to her scoring bounty. With a victory slipping out of sight, the Islanders turned the last ten minutes into a pride quest as Jake Peregrin, Jared Radil, Natallyah Teixeira, Chloe Gregory and of course Logan Mazziota sent a clear message for the playoffs with Mazziota nailing two scoring bombs to make it a 9-4 contest. After thirty minutes of almost flawless play at net, the Penguins’ Colin Woods once again dashed any Isles comeback hopes as he returned to form and helped set up CeeJay Larino’s game ending goal as the Penguins closed things out with a 10-4 victory.
