Nowak red-hot as Devils win

With one very convincing win under their belt, the (1-3) Islanders were eager to keep things on track as they faced the (2-2) Devils in a JCC of Bayonne Senior Division floor hockey duel. Needing a fast start, the Devils “Twin Engines,” Jake Nowak and J.P Egan, answered the call as Nowak assisted Egan on his first goal of the season. Down 1-zip early, the Islanders bolted out to a 3-1 advantage as Jake Peregrin (1 goal, 1 assist), Drew Radil (1 goal, 1 assist), Malachi Smith (1 goal), and Natallyah Teixeira (1 assist) fueled the comeback. Taking a page from the Islanders’ playbook, the Devils countered with a three goal barrage with Jake Nowak (2 goals, 1 assist), Megan Feeley (1 goal), and Alejandro Cifuentes (2 assists) leading the scoring raid. Trailing 4-3 at the halfway point, the Islanders’ defense set the pace with Jared Radil’s heart stopping saves and the ballhawking of Logal Mazziota and Chloe Gregory which led to Drew Radil’s game tying breakaway goal. Knotted at 4-4 with just 10 minutes remaining, the Devils went into overdrive with Matt Doyle and Ryan Giocoli feeding passes to the Devils’ goal starved offense. In one five minute span, the Devils pumped in three goals as Jake Nowak (3 goals), Alejandro Cifuentes (2 assists), and Elliott Santana (1 assist) left the Islanders’ fortress minded defense in ruins. With the damage done and the clock ticking down, the Islanders went out swinging but the Devils proved up to the challenge as they banked a 7-4 victory.
