Deadlocked at (1-3-1), both the Bruins and Red Wings needed a victory to keep pace with the first place (3-2) Blackhawks as they hit the court for a JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Floor Hockey showdown. Each team traded goals in the early going with the Bruins’ Megan Feeley scoring off an assist by Kasper Hooks that was quickly answered by a scoring dart by the Red Wings Jake Peregrin with Michael “Stonewall” McCollum picking up the assist. The 1-1 tie held up until the Bruins’ co-captain Megan Feeley pumped in two more goals with the help of Arya Deshmukh and Hooks on the assists. Down 3-1 at the halfway point, the Red Wings’ Michael Egan fought in a scoring bulls eye to cut the Bruins’ lead to 3-2. With the action at a fevered pace, both defenses dug in as the Bruins’ Declan McCormick and the Red Wings’ Victor Mendolaro faced a barrage of blasts on net. With shots raining in, the Bruins’ Caitlin Feeley and the Red Wings’ defensive trio of Jordan Neustein, Sebastian Valles, and Alejandra Valles began to slow the tide with zone clearing passes. As the game raced toward its final minutes, the Bruins and Red Wings once again traded goals as Feeley (Bruins) and Peregrin (Wings) each nailed net jets. With the score 4-3 Bruins, a Red Wings’ defensive miscue left the puck on the redhot stick of Megan Feeley who tipped in her fifth goal of the bout to seal the Bruins’ 5-3 victory.
