A funeral mass was offered May 19 at St.Catherine’s of Bologna in Ringwood for Olga Fabiola Leon, 83, of North Bergen. She passed away peacefully on May 15. She was the wife of 55 years to the late Albert Armando Leon; mother to Fabiola Leon-Catalano and her husband Frank of Ringwood; sister to Fabio, Ennio and Ernesto and aunt to two nephews and three nieces. Born in Calimete Matanzas Province in Cuba, the oldest of four siblings. She graduated from Havana University with a doctorate in pharmacy. Olga married and had a daughter. Following the onset of the communist revolution, she and her family became refugees. She and her family emigrated to Spain and then settled in the United States. She became a United States citizen in 1973. She was employed for over 20 years by New York Presbyterian Hospital as a pharmacist, a position she maintained until her retirement in 1990. Olga was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s on the Palisades RCC in West New York. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going for long rides in the surrounding Pennsylvania and New York countrysides, reading books and watching the Yankees, her favorite baseball team.
