Theodore Roosevelt School Students Caught “Sneaking” Around.for a Great Cause!

Once again the Peer Leadership Group at Theodore Roosevelt School completed a wonderful community project. This time it was a sneaker drive for Pediatric Cancer Awareness and Treatment. Students in Ms. Barbarise’s Peer Leadership program, who were also students in Ms. Boshell’s Sixth Grade Class, helped to organized the drive. Anabelle, who is not only one of the classmates and a Peer Leader, appealed to the team for some assistance for her cousin Jovan X. Caraballo. Jovan, presently 13 years old, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma last year and is continuosly fighting this terrible disease, along with the Max Cure Fondation. The TRS School’s ‘family’ worked diligently and collected almost 200 pair of sneakers in less than two weeks. The sneakers will be now be recycled which in turn will help to fund research for medicines used to fight Pediatric Cancer. A portion of the proceeds will also go towards Jovan’s medical bills and needs. Many thanks to all who supported this drive. Your efforts are always appreciated.
