JERSEY CITY — The mayor of Jersey City told NJ.com on Thursday that he is planning to declare a state of emergency in the city for the first few weeks of the shutdown of the northbound lanes of the Pulaski Skyway. The lanes are being closed for two years for repairs.
Mayor Steve Fulop said that if they declare a state of emergency, the city will be able to alter police officer shifts and “adjust the timing of traffic signals without having to get approval from the City Council,” according to the story.
