To the Editor:
As I drive around my neighborhood, I notice how some intersections have stop signs when they should have traffic lights, because cars approaching those intersections creep up into the intersection to look for oncoming traffic, which causes cars to swerve away from them, potentially resulting in accidents.
One intersection in particular is 49th Street and Avenue C, where cars creep into the intersection from west 49th street going east towards Avenue C. It gets so bad there, that people living around there attempted to circulate a petition to have a traffic light put there, but to no avail.
That there hasn’t been an accident there yet is only luck. It is bound to happen. It’s just a matter of when.
I am urging the city of Bayonne to add a traffic light to this intersection and anywhere else the potential of an accident exists.
