HOBOKEN — Relatives and friends of Hoboken resident Andrew Jarzyk, 27, continued trying to spread awareness this week about their missing loved one.
Jarzyk spent last Saturday night, March 29, at a supper club on Monroe Street in western Hoboken with friends. He left the bar around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, headed two blocks to his apartment, changed into running clothes, and headed a mile east to jog along the Hudson River. He was training for a marathon, friends said.
Video cameras from waterfront restaurants captured Jarzyk jogging past Pier C park on the central waterfront around 2:09 a.m., then onto Pier A Park at the southern end of the waterfront. Police have not found video of him exiting the pier. If he did exit, he could have continued south via the waterfront walkway past the train terminal into Jersey City, or headed back west toward home. Right now, all observers can do is speculate.
The Hoboken Reporter shot video Monday of a jog around the walkway around Pier A. There were no breaks in the fence or any spaces that would make it easy for someone to slip and fall into the water. Click the box below to view the video or go to the Reporter Facebook page here.
Police completed a search of the water near Pier A last week, using scuba divers and helicopters, but turned up nothing.
Yesterday, Jarzyk’s girlfriend wrote on Facebook, “I first want to sincerely thank every person that has reached out. I have read every single message, text, etc. I apologize if I have not responded, but this is all extremely overwhelming. Please keep the shares and reposting. What I do ask of everyone… if anyone knows someone that can help getting/ donating a billboard for Andrew — ideally on the Turnpike, from the Newark area and north. This would definitely help publicize Andrew’s face, story, as well as the reward leading directly to Andrew. It would be one step closer to bringing him home. Thank you so much for your love and support. Please continue sharing and praying for Andrew Jarzyk to come home.”
