Elks Lodge holding dance for their ‘Friends with Special Needs’

Bayonne Elks Lodge 434 will be hosting a free dance event for its “Friends with Special Needs” on Sunday, April 27 from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Bayonne Community Museum, 229 Broadway.
Those 18 and older with special needs are welcome to attend.
“There will be a St. Patty’s Day theme this time around,” said a spokeswoman. “The Elks will provide a DJ, snacks, beverages, chaperones, and a good time for all.”

Chamber spring event almost here

The 1st Wine & Food Tasting event of the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce will be held on Thursday, April 3, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at R&B’z Restaurant, 234 Broadway.

Dance party fundraiser for cancer prevention being held

The Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention will host “Dance Party 2014” on Friday, April 11.
Dance tunes from the 50s, 60s, and 70s will ring out from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Community Hall, 39 East 22nd St.
The donation is $100 per person and includes food, beer, wine, soft drinks, and desserts.

Program on owls being presented at environmental center

Want to learn more about owls? The Meadowlands Environment Center in Lyndhurst has the perfect event for you, “Flat Rock Brook Owls,” on Sunday, April 6, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
This program for all ages will focus on the owls that are flying, hunting, and roosting in the nearby Meadowlands.
“The Flat Rock Nature Center will bring artifacts and live owls and talk all about these feathered ambassadors, including their behavior, physiology, adaptations, and natural history,” said spokesman Brian Aberback.
The price is $5 per person for the public; $4 for MEC members.

Hurricane Sandy effects being measured by survey and focus groups

The Hudson Regional Health Commission is conducting a health and well being needs assessment for those in Hudson County affected by Hurricane Sandy.
If you are a county resident or business owner, your input is requested. Complete the survey at surveymonkey.com/s/HRHCsandysurvey.
The commission is also conducting focus groups about the hurricane. Participants can share Sandy-related experiences. Transportation will be reimbursed.
