Wizards win as Wolf, Easwar rule

At (7-0), the Wizards have been the “King of the Hill” right from week one of play in the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Jr. Division. For the (1-6) Dragons, their uphill battle has done nothing but fuel their fire as they set their sights on a playoff win and a shot at a “Gold Medal”. Right from the get go, the Dragons went on the attack with Rohan Banoor assisting Ryan “Iron” Griffin on the game’s first goal. Finding themselves behind for the first time all season, the Wizards rallied back to take a 3-1 lead with T. J. Wolf (1) and Harsh Easwar (2) zipping in goals. Trailing by two, the Dragons’ “Iron” Griffin hit his mark again with Arya Deshmukh on the assist. With the win hungry Dragons hot in pursuit, the Wizards got a little breathing room as Wolf torched the nets for two more goals making it 5-2, Wizards. Needing a spark, the Dragons’ Matt Miceli answered the call with net shaking rocket cutting the Wizards’ lead to 5-3. Like a well oiled machine, the Wizards’ once again hit the gas pedal as Wolf (2) and Easwar (1) sailed in three straight goals while Michael Cordero picked up his league leading 19th assist. Staring up at an 8-3 deficit, the Dragons “Iron” Griffin stayed in the hunt by nailing his third goal of the fray making it 8-4, Wizards. Up by a bunch, the Wizards finally put the finishing touches on an undefeated regular season with Declan McCormicks’ fifteenth net gem of the season as the Wizards captured a 9-4 victory.
