Comets storm to Gold

After an emotional double overtime 3-2 playoff victory, the (2-6-1) Rockets embarked on towards the “Gold Medal” as they took on the undefeated (8-0) Comets in the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Sr. Division “Championship Tournament”. Things turned ugly for the Rockets early as the Comets’ juggernaut offense scored at will with Alexandro Gonzalez (4 goals), Brayden Cotter (2 goals, 3 assists), Brian Cotter (1 goal, 1 assist), and Chloe Gregory (2 assists) fueling the Comets’ 6-0 lead. Trailing by a heap, the Rockets finally got on the board as Kevin Aguilar and Natallyah Teixeira each pumped in goals while Kyle O’Hara and Chris Shaw notched assists. With a very commanding 7-2 advantage, the Comets showcased their ball skills as Michael Lago, Elliott Santana, and the amazing defensive duo of Colin and Mackenzie Woods put their ball handling talents to the test. While the clock ticked down, the Rockets never backed down as Madison Neal Markowski, Chris Shaw, and Eric Orczykowski fought for every inch of turf in hopes of another score. In the end, the powerful Comets would own the day as Brayden Cotter capped off his brilliant season with his 19th goal of the year as the Comets captured “Gold” with an 8-2 victory. For the Rockets, their season and their storybook playoff run ended with the “Silver Medal”.
