Bus driver indicted in death of North Bergen baby

HUDSON COUNTY — The county prosecutor’s office issued a press release Thursday afternoon regarding the July, 2013 death of 8-month-old Angelie Parades of North Bergen, who was killed near the West New York waterfront after a bus on Boulevard East crashed into a light pole, which toppled onto her stroller. She had been out for a stroll with her mom.
The release said:
“Hudson County Acting Prosecutor Gaetano Gregory announced today that the Grand Jury has returned an indictment charging Idowu Daramola, age 49, of Jamaica, New York, with Vehicular Homicide. The indictment was returned on March 11, 2014. Daramola is alleged to have recklessly driven a commuter transportation vehicle and thereby [allegedly] caused the death of an eight month-old infant on July 30, 2013 in West New York. Daramola is currently out on $100,000 cash or bond bail, which he posted on Oct. 2, 2013. Vehicular homicide is a second degree crime and carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in State Prison. The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
