Rockets Sonics duel to 0 – 0 tie

With second place up for grabs, the (1-4) Rockets and the (1-3) Sonics took to the court for a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division showdown. Like two square pegs trying to fit into a round hole, both the Rockets and Sonics found themselves frustrated on the offensive front. While James Johnson, Drew Radil, and Joshua Verzosa split time at net for the Sonics, the Rockets’ Chris Shaw ruled the net from start to finish. The tempo of the game stayed fierce through out as Kyle O’Hara, Angel Martinez, Eric Orczykowski, and Maddie Markowski pumbled the Sonics net with shots while Jared Radil, Allen McComb, Alejandro Cifuentes, and Brandon Ferreira returned the favor by pelting the Rockets net with firepower. Scoreless for forty minutes, both squads got a final chance to settle the score in a head to head overtime shootout. With Shaw in net for the Rockets and Johnson in net for the Sonics, each team sent five shooters to the penalty stripe but after near misses by the Rockets’ Meghann Mock, Natallyah Teixeira and the Sonics’ Joshua Verzosa the defensive duel ended in an epic 0-0 O.T. tie.
