With just one win under each of their belts, the (1-4) Knights and the (1-3) Dragons were eager to face off in their JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Jr. Division duel. Evenly matched in the early going, goals by the Dragons’ Ryan “Iron” Griffin and the Knights’ Alanis Concepcion and Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes deadlocked the two squads for the first 20 minutes. With Nicholas Resua, Anthony Frasier, Rohan Banoor, and Arya Deshmukh holding the fort for the Dragons’ defense, the Knights seemed to be kept at bay. With his troops needing a rallying call, the Knights’ team captain, Alejandro Cifuentes, lit a fuse by scoring four rapid fire goals as Josue Belber, Aaliyana Cifuentes, and Alanis Concepcion each picked up assists. Trailing 6-2, the Dragons tried to battle back with Matt Miceli and “Iron” Griffin battering the Knights’ net with shot after shot but the Knights held tough to clinch a 6-2 victory. A special mention must be givin to the Knights’ Raquel Belber for her outstanding defensive effort in key situations.
