Verizon building in Jersey City collapses under snow

JERSEY CITY — Heavy snow is believed to blame for the collapse of a one-story Verizon building on Pamrapo Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 13.
According to city spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill, Jersey City Police, Fire, and the Office of Emergency Management were on the scene of a one-story building collapse which occurred around noon at 169 Pamrapo Ave. The building, a Verizon facility, has been evacuated and all occupants have been preliminarily accounted for. A secondary search will also be conducted shortly. Three people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Snow averages throughout Hudson County were from 10 inches in Hoboken and 10.5 inches in North Bergen to 11 inch in Harrison and 15 inches (the top in the state as of Feb. 13) in Kearny.
