UPDATE: Bayonne issues storm special guidelines

BAYONNE — On Thursday, Feb. 13, Mayor Mark Smith issued a follow-up advisory about the winter storm:

The snow/ice mix is expected to continue until early Friday morning. Current forecasts are calling for accumulations of up to 12 inches.

City Department of Public Works crews and contractors are out plowing and salting the streets on a continuous basis. Please avoid going out if at all possible.

The potential for significant icing exists, affecting power lines. Should your power go out, please report it to PSE&G at (800) 436-PSEG (7734).

The storm is accompanied by extremely low temperatures. Landlords are required to provide tenants with heat. If you do not have heat, please contact the Bayonne Police Department at (201) 858-6900 for help.

Please take care of elderly and infirm neighbors. Keep your pets indoors and safe.

Once the storm ends, please try and remove snow from your sidewalks as soon as possible.

Public school yards will be available for parking from Thursday night until Friday, Feb. 14 at 6 a.m., when cars must be removed.

On Friday, the city of Bayonne will commence curb-to-curb snow removal operations on Avenue C from end to end. All cars should be removed from Avenue C by Friday at 7 a.m.

Snow removal on other main thoroughfares will follow on Saturday and Sunday, and additional advisories will be issued.
