Hoboken may have extra school Thur and Fri to make up for snow, except if it snows again…

HOBOKEN — Pending approval by the Board of Education this Tuesday night, the Hoboken school district says on its website that it may change its school calendar this week in order to make up for the recent snow days. A teacher training day was originally scheduled for Friday, so students originally had the day off — but with the change, the district would hold classes that day instead. The district also would change Thursday’s half-day instruction to a full day, releasing students at 2:30 instead of 1. The district has not announced whether any after-school programs would be held.
However, various weather forecasts predict a nor’easter for Wednesday night into Thursday anyway.
Monday morning, this notice was up on the district website:

“Due to severe weather resulting in school being closed for a number of days this winter, the Hoboken Public Schools will have a change in the calendar in an effort to gain back some of the lost instructional time.
Pending final Board of Education approval, Thursday, February 13 will now be a full day of school and Friday, February 14 will a 1:00 dismissal day.
All schools will remain closed as previously scheduled on Monday, February 17, in recognition of President’s Day.”
