Mental illness awareness lecture to be held at Symposia Bookstore tonight

HOBOKEN – Brenda Luchetti, a psychiatric counselor at Hoboken’s Community Mental Health Center and mental health activist, will give a lecture at Symposia Bookstore on Thursday night, Feb. 6, entitled “Mental Illness: The Civil Rights Issue of Our Generation.”
The lecture, which will kick off a week of educational, anti-stigma programming in schools and local establishments throughout the city, will focus on how stigmas against people who suffer from mental illness hinder those people from succeeding in our society.
Luchetti has previously spoken at events for the Hudson County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and played an integral part in Hoboken’s official designation as a “stigma free zone” in 2011.
The lecture will kick off at 6 p.m. at Symposia, at 510 Washington Street, Hoboken.
