MURNANE, MARGARET (Peggy)

recently of Perry Hall, Md., formerly of Caldwell, N.J., died Wednesday, Dec. 18 , 2013, at the Center for Hope Hospice. Funeral arrangements were by DANCY Funeral Home, Caldwell. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Dec. 23, at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, followed by the entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Mrs. Murnane was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Jeremiah T. Murnane, Jr. She leaves behind her sons, Jeremiah III and wife, Katherine, and Michael; daughters, Susan Dyckman and husband, Robert, and Alison Smith and husband, Thomas; and grandchildren, Megan, Kelly, Bobby, Abby, Patrick, Emily, Jeremiah IV, and Caroline.
Born March 23, 1932, in Bayonne, Mrs. Murnane was the daughter of William and Margaret Sullivan Tierney. She is survived by her sister Mary and brothers Thomas and Robert; and was predeceased by brother William.
A graduate of Holy Family Academy, Bayonne, Mrs. Murnane attended Packard Junior College prior to joining the staff of the registrar’s office at St. Peter’s College, Jersey City.
Peggy and Jerry made Caldwell their home in 1962. Peggy was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Aloysius Church and School where she taught music and CCD; orchestrated student Christmas concerts; directed the youth choir, and led Girl Scout Troop 34.
As a part-time staffer in Caldwell College’s Financial Aid Office, Peggy pursued her Bachelor of Science degree in Business at night, graduating in 1982. She went on to become the Director of Financial Aid, retiring in 1996. She was an active member of New Jersey Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and New Jersey Parents Support Group; and served as officer of the Mother’s Club at Seton Hall Prep.
