SMARRO, JEAN

Private funeral services have been held for Jean Smarro. She died Dec. 13 at Bayonne Medical Center. A lifelong Jersey City resident, she retired after 25 years as a teacher’s aide for the Jersey City Board of Education, most of those years spent at P.S. 16 and P.S. 34. Jean’s greatest love and enjoyment were her grandchildren and cooking for her family. She was a benefactor of Hudson Hospice, a supporter of the Dante Alighieri Society and a member of Our Lady of Mercy Seniors and the Teresians.
She was the wife of the late John M. Smarro; mother of Doreen Finnell and her husband Lawrence, Mary Jean Guadadiello and her husband David Pickens and the late John M. Smarro. She was mother-in-law of the late Anthony Guadadiello; grandmother of Lawrence Finnell and his wife Andrea, Catherine and her husband Derek Schork, Meghan Finnell and Kevin Finnell; sister of the late Frances Appello. Jean is also survived by her in-laws Herbert Smarro, Frances Smarro and Anthony Ferrino. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
