McGill shines bright as Colts win

With the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division playoff seeds already set, the (2-8) Jets and the (6-5) Colts locked horns in a tune up bout for their November 10th “Championship Tournament” clash. The Colts struck first as Ahmad McGill raced wire to wire for a 6-0 lead. The Jets quickly answered with Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes sprinting to paydirt on a goal to goal sweep to knot the game at 6 all. After being corralled on first and second down, the Colts turned to their bruising fullback Chris Ballance who showed off his quickness with a goal to goal rumble to give the Colts a 12-6 advantage. With the Jets marching up court with Alanis Concepcion and the Stack brothers, Benjamin and Owen fueling the drive, the Colts’ defense stiffened as Kyle Arano picked off a pass to end the scoring threat. One play later, the Colts cashed in to make it 18-6 on a 20 yard TD gallop by Ahmad McGill. Down by 12, the Jets went to the air as QB Declan McCormick sailed a 35 yard TD toss to Aaliyana Cifuentes making it 18-12, Colts. Once again, the Jets seemed on the verge of tying the bout when the Colts’ defense stepped up as Ahmad McGill pilfered a Jets’ pass at midcourt. With their “D” fueling their engines, the Colts’ offense hit their mark again as Ahmad McGill sprinted in for his third TD of the game while also ringing up an amazing 232 points for the season. Trailing 24-12, the Jets kept plugging away as Kasper Hooks toted the ball into Colts’ territory but once again the Colts’ Ahmad McGill came up a big as his second interception sealed the Colts’ 24-12 victory.
