Funeral services took place Nov. 30 for Jorge A. Rivera, 75, of Jersey City. He passed away Nov. 25 at Jersey City Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in Nicaragua, he came to the United States in 1968. He obtained his United States Citizenship during the Bicentennial Year Celebration in July of 1976. Jorge worked for 25 years as a typist for the Jersey Journal. He was presently working for the City of Jersey City in the Department of Senior Affairs where he had worked for the last 16 years. Jorge was devoted to his family and enjoyed celebrating life while traveling, enjoying good food, good wine and Latin music. Mr. Rivera is survived by his best friend of 60 years and wife of 55, Vilma Rivera; his sons Jorge A. Rivera, Jr. and his wife Mary, Jaime E. Rivera (Hudson County Prosecutors Office), Alexander M. Rivera (Jersey City Police Dept); grandchildren, Jorge, III, Janine and Christy Rivera and siblings, Carlos, Olga, Socorro, Rosa and the late Neli. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends too numerous to mention. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
