Morrone “Magic” for Chargers

After slipping to (3-6), in game one of their week seven JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division double header, the Chargers looked to bounce back as they took on the (2-6) Eagles. Bounce back they did as the Chargers only trailed once when Adrianna “Magic” Morrone’s TD catch was briefly out done by the Eagles’ Janaaron Aquino’s long TD run and Jaime Betancur’s two point grab. Down 8-6, the Chargers surged out to a 26-8 advantage fueled by “picks” by Jazmine Garcia and James Johnson while “Magic” Morrone (1 TD, 2 expts) and Johnson (2 TDs) put the Chargers up big. For the Eagles, the missed opportunities mounted but they finally returned to paydirt as Janaaron Aquino notched his second TD making it 26-14, Chargers. Up by 12, the Chargers put the Eagles away as Ryan Giocoli (1 TD), Adrianna Morrone (2 TDs), James Johnson (4 expts), two “picks” by Morrone and a safety gave the Chargers a huge 50-14 lead. Bright spots for the struggling Eagles squad came via the second half QB efforts by the Ballance brothers, Chris and Ryan, while two “picks” by Betancur and six hard nosed stops by Anthony Minotto set a “no quit” tone. As time ticked down, the Chargers secured their 50-14 victory as speedsters Ahmad McGill and Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes piled up the rushing yardage to run out the clock.
