BAYONNE — On Tuesday, Nov.19, at 2:49 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department responded to 184 West Fourth St. on a report of a worker injured on the roof. Arriving firefighters determined that a roofer had accidentally shot himself in the knee using a pneumatic roofing nailer, and was unable to descend due to the severity of the injury.
Firefighters used a 75 foot Ladder (Bucket) Truck to gain access to the roof of the 2-story building, provided medical attention along with EMS, and secured the worker to a backboard. The 49-year-old worker was lowered to the ground using the elevated bucket, and transported to Jersey City Medical Center by EMS Ambulance.
