The JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division closed out week five with the (4-2) Bears taking on the (4-2) Colts in a first place duel. The Bears struck first a QB Matt Miceli continued to have a hot arm as he connected with his “go to guy” Ryan Griffin on a 20 yard TD pass. Miceli then jumped into action defensively as he picked off a Colts’ long pass attempt. The turnover advantage was short lived as the Colts’ Ahmad McGill intercepted a Bears’ pass at half court. With Nicholas Resua and Anthony Fraser anchoring the Bears’ defense, the Colts’ high powered offense was kept at bay for most of the contest and the Bears’ offense took advantage as the points piled up. The Miceli to Griffin combo made it 12-0 on another TD strike followed by Matt Miceli racking up 18 points on two TDs, two 2 point scores, and a defensive stop for a safety as the Bears rolled out to a 30-0 lead. The Colts kept plugging away inspite of the scoreboard and after key runs by Michael Aziz and Kasper Hooks, QB Kyle Arano rocketed a TD pass to Chris Ballance followed by Ballance powering in for two points but in the end the Bears ruled the day with a 30-8 victory.
