Funeral services took place Nov. 2 for Madhu Chohan. He died Oct. 30. He was born in a small town of India called Mahuva on April 1, 1975. Madhu came to the U.S. on Aug. 8, 1977 with his mother and siblings. He attended Brandt Elementary Middle School and then graduated from Hoboken High School in 1994. He stayed at home with his mother while she was ill till she passed away in 1998. He had various jobs until he decided to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Madhu attended the Burlington County Police Academy in 2004. After graduation from the academy he worked for Hudson County Corrections from 2004 to 2008. From there he joined the Hoboken Police Department and remained there until his diagnosis of a brain tumor in March of 2012. During this time he had received a ton of support from family, friends, and colleagues. As a teenager he studied aikido and received a black belt. He also taught aikido to young children.
Madhu Chohan is survived by his daughter Ariyana, older brother Anthony Chohan, and older sisters – Au Vododaria, Mona Patel, Priti Chohan, and Falguni Chohan. Also survived by friend Maria Cruceta and nieces and nephews – Joshua Patel, Diya Vadodaria, Dylan Vododaria, Jay Patel, and AJ Patel. Services arranged by the Earl F. Bosworth Funeral Home, Hoboken.
