Betancur, Minotto rev up Eagles

A win hungry Eagles squad at (1-3) took on the (2-3) Chargers for game two of the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football week four double header. The Eagles set the tone early as Janaaron Aquino’s interception fueled a 16-0 run with Ryan Ballance notching a TD and a two point grab while a safety and Anthony Minotto’s TD catch lit up the scoreboard. With the second half underway, the Chargers finally got on the board as Ahmad McGill hauled in along TD strike making it 16-6. The turnover bug hit again as two promising drives by the Chargers ended with Jaime Betancur picking off two errant passes. With each pick, the Eagles cashed in as Betancur, Aquino, and Minotto each struck paydirt and with a two point catch by Minotto the Eagles soared to a 36-6 lead. The Chargers did find the endzone in the final seconds on a determined TD run by James Johnson and Adrianna Morrone’s two point grab but the Eagles rolled to clinch a 36-14 victory. A special mention must be given to the Eagles’ Chris Ballance and Jan Patrick Egan for fueling their squads rushing attack while the Chargers’ Jazmine Garcia and Alejandro Cifuentes keyed two valiant defensive stands.
