To the Editor:
Over the last fifteen years, Bayonne has only seen tax increases. Property taxes are still high and many residents have serious questions about whether they are getting what they are paying for. When taxes are increased, the quality of the city tends to increase as well, but Bayonne has not seen anything like that. Bayonne has the potential to be one of the best cities in the entire state of New Jersey. Our location gives us a great advantage as many people drive through our city every day. Whether those people are New Jerseyans or New Yorkers, our city can attract people that would allow us to restore Broadway.
My message to City Hall is this. The people deserve lower taxes for the quality of service they are receiving from City Hall. The Sunshine Review, which does its own audits and reviews of municipalities, has given Bayonne an F on its level of transparency. Residents should be able to see where their money is going, and it should be public information that can easily be accessed by anyone. Enough is enough. We need to stop electing the same politicians who are trying to recycle each other’s seats.
As a candidate for city council, running mate to Anthony Zanowic, and representative of Zanowic For Mayor 2014, I can say that we have strong, genuine, and honest candidates ready to tackle the challenges that City Hall has created. By lowering taxes, restoring business to our city, and increasing transparency, we can turn our city in the right direction. Together, we’re working toward a better Bayonne.
