The funeral liturgy was performed Aug. 16 at SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church for Peter Chelak, 82, a lifelong Jersey City resident. He passed away peacefully with family by his side on Aug. 12. Peter received his BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and later became an Associate Engineer at the Newark College of Engineering. He worked for RCA for over 20 years as an engineer and later as a Purchasing Agent for Jersey City until his retirement. Peter was a Korean Army Veteran. He had the best sense of humor and leaves many fond memories of family trips taken cross county for his family to treasure. He was the son of the late Wasil and Pearl (Barna) Chelak; brother of George and wife Sandra Chelak, Paul and wife Adrienne Chelak and the late Michael, Simon and Olga; brother-in-law of Dorothy and Olga Chelak; uncle of Denise, Nina, Victoria, Jessica, David, Gregory, Gary and also loyal nephew of his 101 year old Aunt Helen Stank.
