She was either Chairlady, Secretary or Member of countless Parish affairs over a 50 plus year period and was vitally active with the church’s Diamond Jubilee (1960) and Centennial Celebrations (1985).
A woman of tremendous faith, grace and love, Anne’s most noble quality was her love of teaching. She taught CCD for over 45 years and prepared hundreds of children for their first Holy Communion.
She and her husband Joe also taught RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) and were Godparents of many children, women and men throughout that time. She was presented with numerous awards for her dedication in teaching such as the Jubilee Medal Pro-Meritas and several CCD awards from the Archdiocese of Newark. She was also an associate member of the St. Lucy Filippini sisters of Villa Walsh in Morristown. She was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Catholic War Veteran’s Downtown Memorial Post 1536. Anne also had a special devotion to St. Anne, her patroness. Every year only July 26, she would have a special mass celebrated in honor of St. Anne followed by refreshments at her home to which all were invited. She is survived by her daughter Anne Regina Herbert and her husband Thomas, her granddaughter Melissa Anne Harris, and her husband Robert and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Joseph and Angela Victoria.
