DILKS, ALBERT THOMAS

Funeral mass was performed Aug. 9 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church for Albert “Albie” Thomas Dilks, 74. He passed away at Christ Hospital on Aug. 6. Born to Stanley and Catherine Dilks, Albie spent most of his life in Jersey City. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps (1956-1959) where he also played on their All-Star Baseball Team. A true fixture in the Jersey City community, Albie was a local barkeep who owned Weber’s Tavern for over 30 years and later Shelia’s Tavern, both in Jersey City. He was twice the recipient of “Jersey City Man of the Year” Award. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lillian Carrizzo Dilks of Falls Church, VA; Susan A. Stepanski, of Falls Church, VA; Mary Ellen Stepanski Prisco, Arnold Prisco and Alexa Prisco of Chester, NY. He is also survived by his sister Faith Dilks Kotkin and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rosemary Hooton and Shelia Wojcik The family would like to thank Pete, a true friend, for all his companionship and support. Dr. Gary Cardiello and everyone at Hudson Internal Medicine, all his doctors, the staff of Bayonne Hospital, and Hamilton Park for the wonderful care and friendship they provided him.
