HOBOKEN – The sentencing of former Hoboken information technology official Patrick Ricciardi, who was arrested in 2011 and pleaded guilty of intercepting e-mails meant for Mayor Dawn Zimmer and other administration officials and passing them on to third parties, was postponed for the second time on Monday, said city spokesman Juan Melli.
The sentencing will now take place on Friday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m.
The sentencing, which will take place in a Newark federal courthouse, was originally scheduled for July 1, but after nearly an hour of waiting, during which Ricciardi’s attorney and the prosecution both met with Judge Esther Salas behind closed doors, it was announced that the sentencing would not take place.
The sentencing was postponed for this morning, but again was delayed.
Zimmer, who was present at the courthouse in July and was planning to make a statement, said that she was surprised the sentencing did not occur on time. – Dean DeChiaro
