Can’t get to the beach? No sweat! The beach has come to you in the form of Newport Green, the 18-month old “urban beach” along the Hudson River in the Newport development.
The party – which attracted more than 1,000 Jersey City and Hoboken residents, and even a few New Yorkers who crossed the Hudson River to attend – was like a neighborhood block party, complete with music, food, and family-oriented fun.
“It’s actually, pretty nice here,” said Jersey City resident John “Lhew” Rodriguez, referring to Newport Green. “There’s a sandy beach where people can lay out and look across the Hudson River. You get this great view of New York. They have a playground, table tennis. There’s a water park for kids. You get all this, without leaving Jersey City.”
Access to the party – like the park itself – was free and open to all.
