HOBOKEN AND BEYOND – Apparently inspired by a recent address in which President Barack Obama outlined his plans to slow climate change throughout the remainder of his second term, Hoboken mayoral candidate and state Assemblyman Ruben Ramos (D–33rd Dist.) will discuss the impact of extreme weather events on Hoboken and New Jersey at a press conference Tuesday, the campaign announced on Monday.
He is set to face off against incumbent Mayor Dawn Zimmer this November.
Ramos will be joined by Hoboken 4th Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti and the director of the New Jersey Sierra Club, Jeff Tittel. The press conference will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Hoboken PATH Train station.
The speakers will touch on Hoboken’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy, the effects of last week’s heat wave, the recent designation of 14 New Jersey counties as natural disaster prone areas. Recently, Obama laid out a plan which included, amongst other policies, limits on carbon pollution from power plants.
