To the Editor:
With all this talk surrounding the Bayonne Board of Education, I think it is time that the citizens of Bayonne are allowed to vote on and hold the school board accountable. To get involved, call (201) 315-0276. In New Jersey there are 554 elected school boards and only 20 appointed. It’s about time we changed. If we are successful, then voters can approve a school budget and the amount to be raised by taxes. The tax levy then is certified to the county board of taxation by the board of education. Or, the voters can disapprove a budget, and then it goes under review. It’s our teachers. It’s our money. It’s our kids
