United Water and its financial partner Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) will donate $50,000 to the Bayonne Little League to help restore facilities that were damaged during Hurricane Sandy. The presentation of the donation was made at a Little League Family Day sponsored by the two companies on June 29 at the Little League complex.
“United Water provides assistance and support to various community organizations in need,” said Chris Riat, senior director of NJ contract operations for United Water. “We chose the Bayonne Little League because of the outstanding impact it has had on the city’s youth over the years and the countless hours spent by the volunteers who run the organization. We are proud to be of assistance.”
The Little League facility, located near the Bayonne Bridge at the far southern end of the city, sustained significant damage during Hurricane Sandy. Tidal waters infiltrated and damaged playing fields, the League office, concession stand, and bathrooms.
“With United Water and KKR’s assistance, we are able to restore the Little League facilities and continue to provide an enriching experience for the children in Bayonne,” said Joe Spengler, commissioner of the Bayonne Little League. “We are grateful for their contribution and support.”
United Water began operations of the water and wastewater systems in the City of Bayonne late last year under a joint venture with the Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority (BMUA) and KKR.
